Dewald Aukema and Adrian Pennink set up Acumen Films to combine their talents and experience in making documentary films. Their work explores some of the most creative art, cutting edge science, revealing history and challenging political issues.They make films that matter. Aukema, a cinematographer, and Pennink, a director-producer, have made prize-winning films and television series for all the major global broadcasters. These include eight science films for BBC's Horizon strand, The Life and Times of Count Luchino Visconti (Emmy winner), The Ascent of Money (Emmy winner), Cry of Reason and Mandela (Oscar nominees), Valley of Life of Death and Francis Bacon (Emmy nominees), Martin Luther King: The March and Calvet (BAFTA nominee), Kissinger (NYIFF Best Documentary winner) and Degas and the Dance (Peabody Award winner).
